Matthew Marlowe is an Associate Attorney at The Law Offices of Gilda A. Hernandez. Mr. Marlowe focuses his practice on litigating complex class action employment law and wage and hour disputes, along with other employment law issues.

Born and raised on the North Carolina coast, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies and a Master of Arts in National & International Conflict Management at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, during which time he received training in district court mediation and traveled to Israel for further education in conflict resolution, peace-building, and national security at the Galilee International Management Institute.

Mr. Marlowe then attended the University of North Carolina School of Law, focusing his legal studies on civil & human rights. He worked as a research assistant with the Critical Race Lawyering Civil Rights Clinic and co-authored an extensive report on the human rights violations of solitary confinement across North Carolina and the United States.

Before joining this firm, Mr. Marlowe worked as a Housing Attorney with Legal Aid of North Carolina, passionately defending tenants facing eviction in small claims and civil district court. He also regularly gave presentations on the rights and responsibilities of tenants at the Tenant Leadership Academy in partnership with the University of North Carolina Greensboro.

When he is not zealously advocating on behalf of his clients, Mr. Marlowe can be found hitting the trails of North Carolina’s beautiful state parks, kayaking on Jordan Lake, attending local film festivals, cheering on the Seattle Seahawks, or cooking with his wonderful girlfriend, Maddie.

Mr. Marlowe is thrilled to become a member of the team at The Law Offices of Gilda A. Hernandez and promises to bring all his passion, education, and experience to workers in need of a strong, determined, and dedicated advocate.
